QUARTZ SAND
QUARTZ SAND used as a filter media in water treatment plants in Pressure Sand Filter / Dual Media Filter. Silica sand, also known as quartz sand or industrial sand is made of silicon dioxide or silica. Silica sand has been useful in glass manufacturing, sand blasting, concrete and mortar mixing, water filtration, landscaping and other construction services.

Quartz and River sand are used as media with excellent removal efficiency for suspended contaminants. Water is passed through a fixed bed of filter media whereby the contaminants are trapped inside interconnecting void space and thereby removed. The bed can be backwashed in cycles on a pre-determined pressure drop or backwashing can simply be done after fixed time intervals.
